Terry Roach, M. Ed., R.K.T is President of Body
Stabilization Training, Inc, a physical therapy company.
Terry graduated from Angelo State University with a B.S.
in Physical Education, M.Ed. in Secondary Education with
an Exercise Physiology emphasis from Arizona State
University, and is a Registered Kinesiotherapist. BST,
Inc. has been in business since 1991. Prior to 1991, she
worked at the Center for Sportsmedicine and Orthopedics
for 7 years, starting her Kinetic program after a back
surgery. Prior to 1984, she was a Physical Education and
Dance teacher and coach for 11 years.
After 10 years of back problems starting with a car
accident, she had traditional physical therapy for 3
years resulting in only temporary relief. Suffering from
daily headaches, muscle and joint pain, she had
difficulty moving without pain but continued to live her
active lifestyle. Many doctors told her that her pain
was “in her head.” Ultimately, my 10 mile multiple
running days and marathons, as well as life in general,
her body “blew up!” “The lumbar back surgery,
performed by Dr. William White, Barrows Neurological
Institute, was the best thing that could have ever
happened to me!” Using herself as a guinea pig, she
researched back problems and programs across the
country, and working on her Masters degree, developed
the Body Stabilization Training Kinesiotherapy and body
mechanic program.

Her unique program has been successful since 1991, in
private practice. Her experience in multiple sports and
activities, the former marathon runner, skier, adventure
racer, triathlete, hiker, climber, tennis player,
golfer, scuba diver, and cyclist, allows her to relate
to patients motivated to get back to their normal
activities. The experience she has gained from her own
recovery from all the trauma to her body has reinforced
the importance of her principles in her Body
Stabilization Training, body mechanic program.
Terry began racing bicycles in 1996 to have success on
the road and the track winning multiple National and
World Masters Track cycling championships. She suffered
many bicycle crashes and body traumas to come back
successfully several times. In 2002, in her comeback
after a year off racing she suffered a severe bicycle
crash in a race breaking ribs, puncturing a lung, with a
rider riding over her neck and another over her low
back. She came back 5 months later to break her own
World Master’s Track Record in the 2K Individual
Pursuit, set in 1998. Her Body Stabilization Training
Program concepts, have allowed her to get back to elite
level racing.
After two more successful years of racing she chose to
take a year off to mountain bike race. After crashing
on her head in a training ride, she was forced to have a
three-level neck fusion, in fall 2004. She has returned
to racing in 2007 and has had success in her first event
as the first Arizona National Senior Olympics Champion
in the road 5K Time Trial. Returning to the track after
4 years, Terry won the 2K Individual Pursuit at both
Arizona State and the National Masters Track Cycling
Championships. She also set a new National record in the
event for 55-59 women. World Championships are moved to
Sydney, Australia and Terry will work to reclaim her
title.
She is a past board member of The Arizona Governor’s
Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Past-President
and past board member of the Arizona Association of
Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance; and
frequent motivational and educational speaker.
Terry believes that age is not a limitation to quality
of life or improved sports performance. You can be
become stronger as you age if the pieces of the puzzle
are in place. The BST program is a piece of the puzzle. |
