After having a cervical disctectomy
with fusion, I was referred by my physician to seek physical therapy. I was in
need of some intense therapy, as I was going to attempt to drive in a sports car
endurance race. I had just been given the OK to remove a neck brace that I wore
while the fusion took place. I had the brace on for 6 weeks day and night and
was not allowed to move my head or neck during that time. Needless to say my
neck was in no shape to hold my head up with a helmet on. Terry Roach and
The BST
program got me mobile enough and strong enough in just two weeks to make the
race. I actually felt so well that I raced two different cars in the race for
a total of six hours.
I continue to apply the techniques and concept
to this day. My body awareness, flexibility, and core body strength have increased
significantly. With that I am feeling stronger, have more stamina, and more
agility then ever before! I do not have any limitations, zero pain, nor have
I re injured my neck or spine. That has allowed me to sustain a very high, intense
activity level with more confidence.

As
a world class athlete the integrity of my body is of the utmost importance.
I spend four to six hours a day training, in and out of the pool. I feel that
Terry Roach's Body Stabilization Training Program is a pivotal part of my training
and has a significant impact on my performance. It helps me to avoid injury
through body awareness and structural propriety. Additionally, the specialized
training teaches my body to move more efficiently, which results in faster times!

I
have found Terry Roach’s
expertise to be extremely valuable in the conservative treatment of patients
with spine problems, as well as in postoperative rehabilitation. She has extensive
experience treating patients, as well as personal experience living with a back
problem for several years and recovering from lumbar disc surgery. She is especially
helpful with the patients motivated to achieve a higher than usual level of
physical capability, such as, professional athletes, airline pilots, and construction
workers, who are determined to return to their previous occupations. Her approach
requires an extensive change in lifestyle, and may be of significant benefit
in addition to other physical therapy programs that include the usual modalities,
muscle strengthening programs, back schools, and back work hardening programs.
Her enthusiasm is infectious and her energy boundless. She has the capability
of enhancing any inclination that the patient may have to participate in his
own recovery. If the patient has no motivation and is not willing to make any
effort towards improvement, this soon becomes apparent.

Thank you personally for the really excellent
work you have done with our patients over this year. I have been very impressed
with the work that you have done and in particular there is a category of athlete
for whom I think you are really the only viable option.
I will look forward to working with you next year.

My original problem was a hip dislocation while
I was jogging through the Grand Canyon. This was a last training run prior to
the San Francisco marathon. Fortunately you were able to work me into your schedule
within the next two days. You diagnosed my hip instability and had me up and
running in my marathon in three weeks. One of my personal best run times. I
continued to train and participated in several adventure races. I still practice
the techniques you taught me in how to move and hold my body to prevent any
further injury to my musculoskeletal system.
My job as a dentist lends itself to many hours
curled over a dental chair. I am convinced your help and technique has kept
me from further destroying my body while I work and continue training for my
next marathon this weekend. The shear positioning of my skeletal system can
make or brake me during work or running, bicycling kayaking etc. I am still amazed
at how quickly developing core body strength eases the tension in my joints,
back and neck muscles.
Thanks for all your help Terry.

As
a leader in the area of Golf Fitness and Golf Instruction for the past 20 years,
I have had many opportunities to work with the top fitness professionals and
trainers throughout the world. There are a great many individuals who possess
a vast amount of knowledge and talent in the industry, but few have been gifted
with the “basic instincts and abilities” that Terry Roach has. Her
ability to diagnose and then prescribe, the proper fitness routine as it relates
to an individual’s physical needs, makes her a leader in her field.
Terry is a “results oriented” trainer
and she is extremely impressive when it comes to her ability to get results
done quickly. Terry is brilliant when it comes to her knowledge of the body
and what muscles relate to their mechanics. Terry explains in detail her reasoning
behind her prescribed fitness routines so that a student clearly understands
the exercise and the application process. Terry is an accomplished athlete who has personally
executed her own fitness techniques and her performance is an incredible example
of the effectiveness of her methods.
I can attest to the benefits of Terry’s
program, as I have benefited from her training techniques for the past 3 years,
and have ultimately experienced success as a result of her programs.

The things that you taught me really helped me
through the season. I am scheduled for a double hip replacement in Chicago.
A specialist told me that is the best way to go since both of my hips are bad.
I will be back in Phoenix this summer so I would love you to help me through
my rehab. I learned more about my body from you in 3 weeks than I had in a lifetime.
I look forward to seeing you soon.

I want to thank Terry Roach from
Body Stabilization Training for all your help with our stretching
and flexibility program over the years. I know that your work in the off-season
and during training camp was very beneficial to our players. I certainly appreciate
you helping me out with the program. Your total dedication and hard work puts
you at the top of your field. I know you will continue to be successful and
we look forward to working with you for a long time.

I began working with you in the off-season of
1989. We focused on improving strength in isolated muscle groups using my own
body weight. Isolated strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, proper breathing,
and improving body control were also part of the program. You taught me how
to get in tune with my body. My performance and overall body control improved
considerably in that season (1989-1990). I had an extremely successful season.
Part of my success is attributed to you, Terry Roach’s
Body
Stabilization Training techniques. I realize the importance of continuing
in a balance-training program to prolong my career. I look forward to working
with you in the next off-season and many more to follow.

I have had the good fortune of working
with Terry Roach over the past year. With my extensive back history, I’ve
seen a multitude of trainers and therapists. The techniques these facilities
employed were moderately successful right up to the point where the patient,
in this case me, left the care of that group. As often happens, the patient
goes right back to the old lifestyle and habits that are the root cause of their
injury(ies).
Terry’s abilities are many, including her
ability to read the body and then tailor a program specific to the individual
based on their strengths and weaknesses. She gives the patient the “life-skills”
needed to keep themselves injury free and/or minimize any future injuries. I
have learned that the actions and performance we employ in the Day-to-Day such
as, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, moving, effect the over all strength
of our muscles and joints. Additionally, with a history of lumbar surgery in
the past, Terry knows the positive effects of maintaining a strong/sound body.
Simply put, no one has had anywhere near the
positive effect on my physical well being as Terry Roach and Body
Stabilization Training.

I
have had the opportunity to utilize the therapy of
Body Stabilization
Training both personally and professionally. I have been directly involved
with the management of work related injuries. The success of Terry’s classes
through the reduction of lost work time and the prevention of re-injury are
out standing. As a competitive cyclist, Terry’s program has made an obvious
improvement in my performance and quality of life. Thanks Terry for all of your
help and support.

Body
Stabilization Training makes the
difference for my patient’s complete resolution and healing of their injury
or chronic pain problems such as fibromyalgia, headaches, nerve or spinal complaints.
Patients don’t have to “live with it” when they incorporate
Terry Roach’s principles and practice the body movement that
is learned in this outstanding strength training program.
Body Stabilization
Training gives flexibility and strength in the right places! Good posture
comes from the foundation up!

We
invited Terry Roach to speak at our annual BESTCOACH seminar we conduct for
golf professional and collegiate coaches. Terry is a dynamic and energic presenter
and provided us with a wealth of valuable information related to improving performance
in golf through improved functional skills and body mechanics. Her philosophies
are congruent with the theories and concepts we advocate at COACHING FOR THE
FUTURE. We are impressed with how simple the program is and yet produces profound
and functional results. Terry’s work aligns eloquently with our vision
to integrate the physical, mental and emotional aspects of human performance.

I am writing in support of Ms. Terry
Roach, who is a graduate of the masters degree program at ASU, and a colleague
of approximately a decade. In a relatively short period, Terry has become, what
I consider to be, one of the leading authorities nationally in Kinetic Activity.
She is especially expert in the areas of preventative and rehabilitative aspects
of low back problems. I have experienced the effectiveness of Terry’s
classes personally after a serious low back problem, and have had numerous opportunities
to observe her teaching methods. She is always enthusiastic and through in conveying
the principles of effective Kinetics to daily living. I have invited her to
speak to my graduate seminars in both Adult fitness and Sports Conditioning.
The students are always excited by the principles she conveys and the practical
exercises she uses to involve them.

After two spine operations by age 46, I knew
that if was to continue to practice medicine and to enjoy my recreational pursuits,
I had to take better care of my back. Terry Roach, through her "hands
on" approach, has given me an exercise program that is very effective and
practical. I highly recommend her methods.
